UST Removals

Name:          Mercy Hospital
Location:     1650 Fillmore Street
                    Denver, Colorado

Size:            7 Acres, Eight 8,000 and 10,000 gallon USTs

Owner/ Client:      CPS Investments
Prime Contractor: E-21 Engineering, Inc.

Project Description: E-21 removed and/or did environmental closure of 8 large underground storage tanks from two separate locations at this large site. Underground tanks formerly containing diesel fuel were removed by E-21 during the early stages of site redevelopment at this former hospital complex. Late in the project, two orphan 10,000-gallon heating oil USTs were discovered. The heating oil USTs were found to be filled with solid concrete and required fast-track removal as delays could have significantly impacted scheduling for other site redevelopment activities and new construction. E-21 provided notification to governing agencies and the tanks were removed within one-week of discovery. UST closure reports were developed for each of the on-site tanks and no further action letters were provided to the developer maintaining the redevelopment schedule. Backfilling and compaction of imported materials was undertaken as part of removal in each case.
