Underground Storage Tank Services
and Remediation Design
E-21's personnel experience in underground storage tank (UST) and
leaking underground storage tank (LUST) services is comprehensive
and includes environmental compliance with local, state, and federal
regulations, risk management, design, and construction observation
of soil and groundwater remediation activities.
E-21 personnel have conducted over 50 UST assessments, closures
and LUST investigations, and our staff members have experience on
over 100 UST and LUST projects. Our services and experiences include
tank removals, closure inspections, closure reports, Phase II site
assessments, monitoring well installations, LUST plume investigations,
soil vapor surveys, water and vapor analyses, Corrective Action
Plan (CAP) development, remediation design, soil excavation and
disposal evaluations, and soil/water treatment system installation
and operation.
Our UST services personnel are familiar with the appropriate state
and local regulations and guidelines for closures, investigations
and corrective actions. We conduct our inspections, observations,
and investigations using instrumentation and procedures meeting
or exceeding current standards of the profession. Field instrumentation
employed includes: photoionization detectors, organic vapor analyzers,
and gas chromatography equipment for field screening activities
and quantitative documentation of observations. For site assessment
and plume delineation investigations, we use soil headspace analyses,
soil vapor surveys, soil borings, and/or monitoring well installations.
In many instances, a soil vapor survey or direct push mini-boring/well
advancement can provide information for optimum monitoring well
locations at a significant cost savings to the overall project.
We strive to use the most cost effective and technically suitable
remediation methods. Remediation methods our personnel have used
on LUST clean-up projects include:
• In-situ soil vapor extraction
• Excavation and aeration
• Excavation and off-site soil disposal
• Air-stripping
• Sparging
• Bio-Reactor processing
• Activated carbon adsorption
