Groundwater Plume Characterization

Name:          CityCenter Englewood
Location:      801 West Hampden Avenue
                     Englewood, Colorado

Work Provided: Groundwater Contaminant Plume Evaluation for site redevelopment
Size:                  45 Acres / $ 325,000

Owner/ Client:      Englewood Environmental Foundation, Incorporated
Prime Contractor: E-21 Engineering, Inc.

Project Description: E-21 provided initial site contaminant evaluation, groundwater plume characterization and initial pilot testing oversight of a ½-mile long contaminant plume derived from an up-gradient gasoline source. A bifurcating contaminant plume was identified during site hydrogeologic characterization. Characterization activities included groundwater elevation monitoring, hydraulic conductivity testing, groundwater flow velocity determination, groundwater recharge and discharge boundaries and groundwater geochemical signatures in this highly complex site. Groundwater flow was found to be interacting with anthropogenic features, including the stormwater sewers, at the site. Monitoring of natural attenuation is still ongoing.
