Project Description: Work included the redesign and reconstruction of a dam at Spectacle Lake in
the San Juan Mountains of Colorado.. Design factors included evaluation of area hydrology, soil conditions, wetlands considerations, and protection of intake structures against beaver activity. Work included foundation preparation, installation of a steel bulkhead in the lake to facilitate construction of a new intake structure, import of 1,000 cubic yards of soil, installation of a 200-foot outlet pipe, and construction of a new spillway.
